Tracking the X (Cross) started in 2023 after Harlen Valentine and Ingram Connor Griffin noticed a lack of representation, appreciation or awareness of their local community's history.
Both working at the Waycross-Ware County Library, Harlen was placed on light-duty after a traumatic event occurred and in that time, Harlen started reading more and more about local lore. Wondering why no one knew about these stories, Harlen started discussing with Connor "How can we bring this out into the world in a way that is interesting enough to want to learn?"
Together they created this podcast and social media outlet to bring the world of history to the modern age, in a way that is free, accessible and interesting!
Tracking the X has officially reached its one year old birthday, officially starting in March 0f 2023!
"Thank you for entering our historical world of Southeast Georgia, it is more interesting than you world think and we are so happy to have you here!" - Harlen Valentine
Fun Fact: Tracking the X the name came from a list of titles Connor and Harlen debated on for weeks. 'X' stands for a variable like in algebra, meaning it could be anything, but also the railroad crossing, "x-ing" since Waycross is the railroad hub of Georgia!
A love for Waycross, especially it's memories!
